"Blue" - a Tribute to Joni Mitchell
February 23 at 7:30 pm

About the Peformance
In 2011, talented Portland musicians Bre Gregg, Anne Weiss, Kris Deelane, Sue Zalokar, Dan Gaynor, Adam East and JP Garau joined together to celebrate the life and work of the incomparable Joni Mitchell for a one-night-only performance at the Alberta Rose Theater. The show met with wild success and rave reviews and now the group is back to reprise their performance here in Hood River.
Women of Heart and Mind's “Blue” features two sets of some of Joni Mitchell’s finest tunes. The first set is a collection of Mitchell's more contemporary songs from the artist’s last four studio albums: Night Ride Home (1991), Turbulent Indigo (1994), Taming the Tiger (1998) and Shine (2007). The set will be peppered with a favorite song or lyrical reading of each of the five women performers featured in the show.
The second set features covers of every song from Mitchell's most popular album, "Blue" which was released in 1971. "Blue" was the artist's fourth album and it is iconic in the minds and hearts of her millions of fans. In true Joni Michtell style, the album is at once insightful, playful and, yes, blue.
