Wild Water - A Love Story
World class kayaker Doug Ammons' presentation "Wild Water—a Love Story" - offers an evening of incredible photos, video, and especially, human insights into the beauty and challenge of wild rivers.
Doug was recently named by Outside Magazine as "one of the top ten 'game changers' in adventure since 1900", and was compared to mountaineer Reinhold Messner for his mind-bending solo runs of the hardest rivers in the world and other expeditions.
In addition to being a game changer, Doug is equally adept at speaking poetically and insightfully of risk, beauty, danger, and intimacy with the natural world.
In addition to his presentation, Doug will also preview a stunning movie in high definition that he is currently working on.
Book Proceeds to Benefit Rural Schools in Nepal
His two books will also be for sale:
- The Laugh of the Water Nymph
- Whitewater Philosophy
For the last 15 years, Doug has donated all proceeds from his books and writing to support two small rural schools in the most remote part of Nepal.
What Others are Saying ...
Doug's presentations have been called "spellbinding" and a "must see that will leave a fire in your heart for the outdoors."
"Doug’s river descents, his insights about risk, thought provoking challenges, and his psychological navigation transcends sport."
The Laugh of the Water Nymph was named "One of the best outdoor books of the year!" (National Outdoor Book Awards).
Regarding Whitewater Philosophy, John Armstrong, Four time Emmy Award winning cinematographer and film-maker, had this to say ...
"This book is amazing, insightful writing. Doug is a master of writing about water, its mystery and beauty, and how it changes us. I could go on and on about the writing - he has the rare ability to tell an engrossing narrative and blend probing philosophy in the same story. He is a maestro of the water and the word."
