Help to Usher in Spring!

March 5 - 28

Spring, if not here already, is fast approaching and nine artists are celebrating the turning of the seasons with lighthearted, playful art. This whimsical art show will help to lift any vestiges of winter blahs and add a little fun and humor to your day.

You'll find artwork ranging from sculpture and ceramics to graphic images and paintings.

Musical Performance

March 6

Enjoy an evening of cutting-edge music at Columbia Center for the Arts, when "Concert Rock Violinist" Aaron Meyer performs on March 6th, 2010 at 7:30 pm.

Meyer performs original music and arrangements that bridges world, progressive rock, & classical styles of music with virtuosity and passion.

On stage with Meyer will be gutiarist Tim Ellis and pianist Jean-Pierre Garau, performing songs off their two CDs of original music, "The Journey...not The Destination" and "Warming Up."

Time for a comedy!

When Pecker's works are "discovered" by a slumming NYC art dealer (Lili Taylor), his simple life is turned upside down, and he quickly realizes that he was happier as an unknown.

Set in Baltimore, the film stars Edward Furlong as Pecker, a sweet-natured young fellow who happily passes the days photographing his surroundings with a cheap secondhand camera.

in Orchard Crops
Presentation by Clark Seavert

Join the Gorge Technology Alliance in welcoming Clark Seavert to the Columbia River Gorge. Seavert is an agricultural economist whose work is focused on technology adoption in orchards.

Seavert directs Oregon State University’s North Willamette Research and Extension Center, and is part of a nationwide group of engineers, scientists, economists and extension educators working on a project known as the Comprehensive Automation for Specialty Crops (CASC).

Grief Teleconference
Cancer and End-of-Life Care

March 24

Hospice of The Gorge invites you to this FREE teleconference developed by Hospice Foundation of America. 

The program provides an educational forum in which a multidisciplinary panel of experts will address care options related to cancer diagnoses as well as loss and grief reactions for patients, families and professional care-givers. The teleconference will also examine psychosocial aspects of cancer, pain management, and ethical issues related to the disease.

This program is appropriate for the general public as well as medical and care-giving professionals.

Farm Life Voices Program
Presentation by Michael Ableman
Feeding the Future: Stories and Images from the New Frontiers of Food and Agriculture

March 29

Farmer, author and photographer Michael Ableman kicks off the "Farm Life Voices Program" ... part of the History Museum's special Farm Life program.

The Farm Life exhibit features over a hundred artifacts and photographs that represent rural agricultural families and communities. In addition, eight educational and inspirational programs about farm life, titled "Farm Life Voices" are planned.

Join the first of the Farm Life Voices presentations at Columbia Center for the Arts on March 29.
