Ode to Mango
By Callie, Age 9
Sweet mango, round, succulent, orange like a gazania,
green like a clover, when I see you it’s like I want to grab you and bite
into you and smell the luscious
smell of you, you make me
want to dive and snatch you
and never let you die. No matter
where I am I shall follow you
wherever you wander when I touch
you it’s like I feel the love of
birds chirping at sunrise
When I see you leave it makes
me want to cry I want
to die without you.
Ode to Orange
By Andres, Age 10
The way your orange luscious round
when I bite into
you, you are like a sweet soft
cloud, and when I see you
you’re no longer an orange
you’re like Saturn as big
and round. I sob without you.
without you I’m nothing
you smell like the flowers.
when I hear the sweet juice come out
I hear you say
you love me too.
and when I touch you,
you are sand in my hands.
Ode to Barn
By John-Paul
O Barn you’re red as
the sun. when I touch you
I’ve gone back in time.
I am surrounded by animals
I would die with out you.
Love Letter to Watermelon
By Kimberly, Age 8
Dear Watermelon,
you are so hot, I love you with your taste but I would
never hurt you with your life. When I’m with you, you look like hearts
in my eyes.
Ode to Trees
By Colin, Age 9
O
your magnificent pulchritude
reaching up to the sky
nay
beyond
for your strength
allows you to grow
paramount to anything
and when I sit in you
the wind in your leaves
makes the most unearthly sound
like music from who knows yonder
Your bark
of exquisite texture
without this
I would never
have known what it was to feel
of all sorts
Without the willow
the world
nay,
the universe
would not be complete
Sometimes
as I sit in you
I wonder
if all the greatness
is centered round you
for your inexplicable patterns of branches
and the most comely sound
of wind in the leaves
it makes me sorry
to climb
down.
Love Letter to Raspberry
By Evan
Dear Raspberry I love
when I eat you
when I see you it feel like I’m in love.
I love looking at you, it
makes me feel like you’re the
one I’m looking for. When I smell you
I’m smelling a tulip. When I eat you I
want to shove a million
of you in my mouth.
Love Letter to Apple
By Strom, Age 6
Dear Apple,
When I see you it feels like I am diving into a pool of tastiness.
When I smell you, you are sugary, little sunflower.
When I bite into the delicious center it feels like being the president of the world!
When I am with you it feels like being in a park with tons of rides and cotton candy.
Love Letter to Kiwi
By Louise
Dear Kiwi,
I love the way your skin is so rough and the way
your insides are so tasty. I adore the way your seeds
are so tasty. You skin is the color of my brown hair
and when I peel you, you’re the color of my
favorite vegetable, snap peas. You bring joy to me.
I can never let you go.
Love Letter to Sunflower
By Payton, Age 6
You are hot
like the sun
flowers are inside you
you are brownish red like a pony
and yellow like a marker
when I touch you,
you are soft and bumpy
as a blanket
you smell like pollen
your leaves are rough as
sandpaper
when I am with you I feel
like the flowers
I am one of the flowers
